This is the initial idea of my group and I's documentary project
Statement of Intent
Sub-genre (crime) | |
Black magic/cult | Reason: We wanted to do a crime that isn’t really a popular trope such as murder or kidnapping and as well with a cult we can unleash our creativity when designing the cult and its followers. |
Topic | |
Cult, investigative journalism, undercover, sacrifice. Interview ex-cult members
Primary Target Audience
Demographic Adults to late teens (16+) and indonesian | Reason Adult to late teens as cults can be a sensitive topic and may have some controversial images and scenes and as for indonesians we want our cult to be indonesian and have indonesian cultural influence. |
Psychographic Paranormal enthusiasts. True crime enthusiasts, psychology interests | Reason As cults they tend to be a little supernatural. We want to attract paranormal enthusiasts as well. We want to cover the psychology of a cult -why people obey them which we hope can interest psychologists or psychology students. |
Message (Dominant Reading)
Cults are bad | Reason: We want to highlight and bring forth reasoning on why being a part of a cult may be devastating to an individual and too not be so trusting of people who try to preach something to you. |
Characters | |
Cult leader: Cult member: Investigative journalist: Interviewer: Ex cult member:
Representations (groups, places, events)
Groups: Cults Places: Indonesia/Bali Events: Rituals | Reason; We want to represent cults as manipulative and evil groups and as well we want to show indonesia as a spiritually active place to warn foreigners or anyone really to be extra careful when entering as for rituals we want to represent them as mysterious and maybe satire where we paint them as redundant and stupid. |
What will be the hook? (The mystery that keeps audiences watching)
How Many people wil be involved in the cult? What will the government do about this? How many people have they made victims (disappearings murders kidnappings)? |
